If you have never been to Columbus, Ohio, you might not know that the city has some great restaurants. While I am back, I am visiting my favorites and sharing with all of you.
When it comes to a nice dinner out, Basi Italia is my favorite.
If I am looking to celebrate (aka splurge), my go-to restaurant is Basi Italia. I think I may have actually celebrated four birthdays there. And fellas, if you’re looking to impress a woman, this is the place to take her.
What Is So Great About Basi Italia?
Basi is modern, gourmet Italian with that tiny, hole-in-the-wall bistro romanticism.
The food is incredible. The menu is creative and changes seasonally. You can rely on the servers to give you good recommendations for both food and wine. They have a great patio.
The Food
I have had many excellent dining experiences at Basi before, but I have to say that my most recent dinner here was possibly the greatest meal I have ever had.
And that is saying a lot!
Appetizers
My go-to appetizer has always been the zucchini. So we had to order that.
Then I saw a parmesan crème brulee on the menu, and I was intrigued. Who thinks to make a crème brulee out of parmesan?
Un-freaking-believable!
Main Course
I usually order the gnocchi at Basi because they just do it so well. They change up the type of gnocchi frequently, so it’s usually something new to me.
Asiago Cheese Gnocchi (aka THE BEST GNOCCHI I HAVE EVER EATEN IN MY LIFE)
Sausage Rigatoni
One of the staples on their menu is the sausage rigatoni. It is one of the most flavorful dishes I have ever eaten, and it is consistent every time. Luckily, my friend ordered it, so I could have a few bites.
Basi Italia is located in the Victorian Village neighborhood at 811 Highland Avenue.
I like the photo of their outdoor area, looks like a cool place to hang out.
And….omg I love the appetizers photos!! The Cream Brulee looks so good. I am jealous!

After we practically licked the bowl clean, we noticed that everyone else around us was enjoying the parmesan creme brulee just as much and doing the same.

With so little time in Columbus (had to visit family around the state), I had to prioritize my restaurants. Would have loved to check out some new ones, but only had time to fit in the faves.

Not a big fan of food but I like the idea of exploring local places to eat. May do more of that as well in the future! Columbus should have a lot of interesting places with it being a college town.

I love zucchini, look at those vegetables!

I try to ignore the massive amounts of butter and cheese and still consider the zucchini healthy

I’ve been waiting to see the photos from dinner at Basi. These are great! Thanks for making the time to have dinner, as always it was a treat.
(Lucky me, I might be going back to Basi on Thursday)
So happy Mandy suggested it. Good meal and good company.

Cheese is the best. It’s one of the reasons I love Basi so much. It seems that they shave fresh cheese over every dish.

I do love my food
It’s one of the things I really enjoy about traveling, but after going home, I realized how much I enjoy what we have in Columbus too.

I’m not sure how I would feel about a non-sweet creme brule, but I’m willing to give it a shot! I love Italian restaurants like this, where they have such unique dishes on the menu instead of the same old spaghetti bolognese.
