I have been working a lot. In fact, between maintaining this website and working on the Buenos Aires City Guide, I am probably working close to 40 hours a week. No, I am not complaining. I am enjoying it.
However, I need a break.
And want to treat myself.
Viñas de Cafayate Wine Resort invited me to stay with them, and I was really looking forward to having a comfortable place to relax and enjoy some wine.
When the taxi dropped me off at the entrance, I was impressed.
Then when Alejandra, one of the owners of the resort, showed me my room, I had to hold back the urge to jump up and down with excitement.
Huge bedroom with high ceilings.
Air conditioning AND a ceiling fan.
King-size bed with comfy bedding and lots of pillows.
Bathroom with a deep bathtub.
(I cannot remember the last time I had a hot bath.)
A separate sink area with a large mirror.
A large closet with hangers, drawers and a full length mirror.
I do not have much luggage with me, but it is so nice to have space to spread out and organize my toiletries and clothes.
Then Alejandra showed me the best part…
the door that opens to my little patio with a pretty view.
In other words, my new office.
(Yes, I will still have to do some work.)
I learned from Alejandra that she, her husband, and friends from the Province of Buenos Aires built the resort on the finca of Domingo Hermanos a few years ago. They only have 12 rooms, which allows them to keep the resort quiet and relaxing and offer excellent service to guests.
I like their style. This is even better than I was expecting.
Speaking of excellent service, Alejandra has already given me great tips for bodegas to visit. I am settled in and looking forward to splitting my time between writing, relaxing by the pool, photographing the gorgeous landscapes, and of course, drinking some great wine.
Hi Gal…I haven’t commented for a while because I have been holding down my corporate position whilst planning to move to Greece and its Islands followed in the Autumn by a move to the Americas so your blog is picking out all the good and “difficult” bits to consider…thank you. My partner and I would simply adore where you are now. I suspect that closer the time I may come to you for some advice if you dont mind. I still just love your photography…oh…if you come across outstanding artists on your travels perhaps consider letting me know because I am compiling a art orientated website for which I am constantly looking for new talent to review and promote or give them an additional vehicle to present their work. Anyway…get on with the hard slog on that wonderful balcony….
Gary
Hi there! Good to hear from you. Sounds like you’ve got some exciting plans. I am happy to offer any advice I can.
There is so much great art in Buenos Aires. Of course you have the graffiti art, but there is so much more. A good resource that comes to mind is the art blog Juanele (from Buenos Aires) http://juanelear.com/. It hasn’t been updated in a few months, but I believe they are picking it up again soon. You can still get lots of good stuff from it.

Pretty astounding place. It’s like those you see on most of the romantic movies. You’re so privileged to be invited to have your vacation there. How I wish I could come and visit the place as well. Lucky you!
