The two days I spent on the Oregon coast was the highlight of my trip to Portland.
This is the most beautiful coastline I have ever seen, and Pacific City is the must-visit spot.
Pacific City
While this is a touristy area, it is not over-developed nor over-crowded (well, at least not on a weekday in the summer). Pacific City is the type of place you can enjoy for a day trip or even a few days.
I first made the short walk out to the rocks of Cape Kiwanda to get some photos of the haystack rock.
I knew that the steep Cape Kiwanda sand dune would be a difficult climb, so I decided to head back down to the beach for some fuel at the Pelican Pub & Brewery.
Filled with energy and determined to see what I had been told is the most beautiful viewpoint of the northwest coast, I started my climb up the sand dune.
It was tough. The key is to just keep moving.
The view was well worth the climb.
To my left.
Straight ahead.
To my right.
I would definitely return to see this view again.
What is your favorite viewpoint on the Oregon Coast?

Strange how deserted the beaches are despite their beauty. What a find!

I think that’s what makes this part of the country so special. It doesn’t seem to be over-developed, and I hope that holds true along the rest of the Oregon Coast.
