My favorite thing to do in Oaxaca, Mexico was wander the streets, trying to experience every colorful building, every scenic view, every interesting shop or restaurant. This is a bustling city, but the pedestrians and traffic do not feel overwhelming, especially when there is so many interesting sights to take in.
What makes this city so special (and a place I would happily return)? Yes, I love the architecture, the colorful buildings, the beautiful skies, the cobblestone streets, the graffiti art with attitude, the giant trees, and the hidden patios. But I think it’s really the energy of the city.
Oaxaca feels alive in a way that is different from other cities I have visited in Mexico. There’s so much history and tradition here, yet there’s a modern youthful culture.
