I love to give myself enough time to explore a city on foot, wandering a bit aimlessly, seeing both the main attractions as well as where the locals live, work, and play. Ghent has made my list of best cities to wander. It’s not too big, so you can cover a lot of ground walking. It doesn’t feel overly crowded. Yet it has the art, restaurants, cafes, and beautiful architecture and cityscapes of major European cities. It felt just right.
Wandering Ghent
I had so many pictures to choose from. I selected a wide range from the grand landmarks to random neighborhood streets, including some subtle quirky details that give this city its personality. And if you’re wondering why there aren’t any pictures including the canals, well, I have so many favorite photos that will be a separate post.
