In my last post, I told you there were two events at La Rural my first weekend back in Buenos Aires. First was the wine expo Vinos y Bodegas where I learned there are a few simple strategies to get the higher-end wines.
The second event was all about food.
Caminos y Sabores
This event features locally-produced food products and artisanal beers.
I liked the setup. They had different caminos (aka paths or roads) of each type of food or flavor. Of course there is one dedicated to yerba mate
Here are a few photos of the tastier samples.
The Cheese
The MEAT
They know how to do bacon here.
Look at those layers!
Decanting olive oil. Love it!
The Chimichurri
This was delicious! I was shocked (and overjoyed) to find out it is a mix you can buy at the store.
And for dessert, a little natural honey.
and alfajores.
What about those beers?
Unfortunately, if you go the last day, not many of the vendors are giving beer samples anymore. And I have to say the few I did get were quite disappointing (as almost all of the handcrafted beers have been in Latin America).
Finally, we decided to buy a cold bottle because a friendly vendor swore that it was good, even for the US beer palate.
He was right.
And they have a cool label too!
Finally!!
More to come on this brewery in Patagonia.

Wow! Great pictures! I agree with Matthew! Now, I’m starving. But, my oatmeal breakfast isn’t anywhere near as appetizing as the samples shown.

So jealous. Your food/wine posts make me jealous. I miss the simplicity of finding delicious food in BA.
I think there’s another brewery in Patagonia- possibly in Ushuaia? that had some decent brews. Can’t think of the name off the top of my head.

There are quite a few in Patagonia. Some I haven’t been impressed with, but there are a couple that I like and hope to visit when I get there.

I have been told there is a “bacon guy” in Buenos Aires. Supposedly, he has incredible bacon, and his product is well-known among the expats. I just cannot bring myself to order special bacon.

Love the photos but in my opinion you did save the best for last those beers look refreshing. Wouldnt mind sampling that honey as well.
The Travel Chica says
The honey was really good. Such a big difference when it’s organic and natural. As I dipped applies in my cheap store-bought honey today, I was thinking how much better it would be if I’d bought the good stuff.
