Isla Mancera is a small island without any cars.
It is a rustic life here. It appears to be the place for Chilean families to go to relax and enjoy nature.
We took a short bus ride from the center of Valdivia towards Niebla and then took a short boat ride to the island.
You can walk around the whole island in about 30 minutes.
We killed some time by stopping to enjoy having a stretch of beautiful beach all to ourselves.

Island off the Pacific coast that doesn’t allow cars kind of sounds like Catalina, California…although this place looks to be devoid of the kitsch!

No kitsch at all! In fact, if you walk the trail that goes around the island, you will find one restaurant, a few small homes, and campgrounds where Chileans come to get away from the city.

Gorgeous! Love the colours
We had grey skies and the threat of rain the whole day. Luckily, when we got to the island, it cleared up a bit and got the perfect slightly-cloudy sky.

Awesome photo! Very lovely indeed. What is that on the beach in the distance there though?

They are birds. Anytime I approached, they started flying away, so I stayed back to get this photo.

A beach all to yourself in summer…. how fun

I had no idea Valdivia had so many nearly-empty beaches like this. A really wonderful place to be in the summer.

It has been a long time since I had some beach time…. since Central America a year ago I think!

Like the effect, that looks like really “lonely beach”.

I prefer a lonely beach to an overcrowded one… I’m selfish

That’s the beauty of travel, just pop over to the other hemisphere when you’re ready for summer

Wow! Gotta love it when you get the beach all to yourself. Were you tempted to skinny-dip?

The water was much too cold! Plus, I was with my friend Tim, and I’m a little too shy for that

I am amazed by how easy it is to get out of the city of Valdivia and see such beautiful, peaceful places.

Gorgeous
I love how pristine the beach looks – I’m sure that has something to do with the no cars policy (no pollution etc!)

Good point! Plus, the fact that you have to take a boat to get here probably keeps a lot of non-Chilean tourists away.
