If you are named after the hideous creature Gollum from The Lord of the Rings, you are probably not very cute.
However, this Gollum is so ugly that he is sort of cute.
Perro Andino
This is a perro andino (Andean dog). I had never heard of nor seen this type of dog before.
Vicente and Julia have a pretty good sense of humor about their bald, wrinkly dog. We all had a good laugh around the dinner table discussing his interesting looks.
When I first saw him bounding towards me (first photo) when we arrived in Rosillas, I was a little creeped out. Despite his size, the expression on his face made me feel like I had “The Precious,” and he would stop at nothing to get it.
But when he was sitting next to me on Vicente’s lap at the dinner table (second photo), I just wanted to give him a little hug. Something that ugly sure needs one.
The ‘My precious’ comment made me laugh!
Yes, gotta work pretty hard to find him “cute.” But it’s all about the personality, right?? (At least that’s what I keep telling myself, lol). Thanks for the post!

Poor little doggie! He is, in fact, ugly. In the second picture, however, he kind of reminds me of an old man: wrinkled skin, grey beard and head, no teeth, sad eyes….

He looks like a tiny hyena thing, which definitely is not a compliment. That being said, even ugly things need some lovin. Actually, now I feel bad for it… He’s okay from far, but far from okay lol

I have seen one of those before, it’s the hairless Peruvian dog, there are a Mexican and a Chinese version that looks pretty similar to these guys. When you pet them it’s nearly like touching sandpaper, it is not so rough and sharp to the tact exactly but if you need to compare it to something you’d probably say that, anyways there’s no such thing as “ugliness”, there’s “odd and different beauty”

That is a good way to look at it. This dog has an odd beauty

Hmmm, I like fur on dogs (and cats) because they’re more cuddly, but he is kinda cute in a weird sort of way. Also, your “The Precious” comment made me laugh.

I agree about the fur thing, but you are right that there is something cute about this little guy. I think it’s his facial expressions.
I love pets. In fact, I have three dogs and 2 puppies at home. I like furry dogs so I purchased those dogs that have many furs. I haven’t seen dog like this one.

This is a unique dog. The dog is so cute. Even though the dog is ugly yet the eyes of the dog is pretty.
