As soon as I got to Portland, I realized my days were going to be even busier than Seattle.
I got a massive list of fun stuff to see and do from Bethany and Ted of Two Oregonians. I had a great discussion with Visit Portland and added more must-dos to my list. And everyone I talked to who had ever been to Portland, told me about their favorite restaurant, food cart, brewery, and attraction.
I was happy to have a luxurious, beautiful room at Hotel Monaco to return to after what I knew would be very long action-packed days.

I could enjoy complimentary Starbucks in the lobby in the morning, ice cream in the afternoon, and a wine happy hour daily.

But what really won me over about Hotel Monaco were the welcome gifts awaiting me in my room.
Companion Goldfish
I read on their website that Hotel Monaco will provide a companion goldfish upon request.
So of course I requested one.
I’m traveling solo… I need some company!
As if goldfish were not enough, I came “home” to discover a cold bottle of Deschutes Mirror Pond Pale Ale, an excellent Oregon beer.
Really your room is luxurious and beautiful. I like your post very much beca8use its beauty. Also I enjoy your thought about your goldfish. Thanks a lot for fantastic sharing.

Do you have Coava Coffee on SE Grand on your list? Great coffee, and as a bonus, most of the seating is at woodworking/metalworking tools and tables.

No, I didn’t hear about this place. Sounds like a cool spot. I will definitely be back to Portland soon and will be sure to check it out.

This hotel is dog friendly too. There were quite a few people who brought their dogs. I enjoyed seeing them in the lobby

A goldfish?! I’m might impressed hotels have stepped it up over the years! You really can’t beat having a goldfish as your hotel companion – it does indeed make solo travel so much more interesting! Have fun in Portland! I hear nothing but great things about the city!

I love when hotels have pets, but generally it’s a house dog (like the Fairmont Vancouver) or a cat (like the Four Seasons Koele Lodge).
The hotel looks wonderful – warm and luxurious. We very well may try it out this winter when we make it down to our old stomping grounds.

They even had a dog welcome sign at the entrance with the names of all the dogs staying there

I’ve heard about those little goldfish amenities at Hotel Monaco. I guess it would be one of those you’d just have to request, but the beer sounds even better.
