There are so many places I enjoyed in Louisville, but the one that was the most unique and that I could return to again and again and spend hours each time is Joe Ley’s Antiques.
Anyone who knows me will tell you I am not into shopping, and antiques bore me to tears.
But Joe Ley’s is different.
I felt like I was traveling through my childhood. I felt like an artist getting ideas for all sorts of cool projects. I felt like an explorer, looking for the gems among the crowded mess of stuff.
It is hard to describe what Joe Ley’s is, so I’ll let some photos give you a glimpse into this quirky store.
Just a taste
An interesting story
Joe Ley was a poor orphan without toys and normal childhood joys like riding a merry-go-round. When he grew up, he became a collector of other people’s discarded junk (especially toys) and made a living by refurbishing and selling it.
This store is now quite famous and has been featured in magazines and has been used for filming movies.
While I prefer to have fewer possessions, I can appreciate a man who built a business by recycling other people’s junk. There is more to it. These things have a certain beauty, you get the sense that Joe really appreciates this beauty. It is remarkable to have so much beauty all in one place.
Between the great food and sampling fine bourbons, a stop at Joe Ley’s is a must-do in Louisville.

Coca cola image reminds me of my favorite soft drink back then. I think this is the best place to chill down and reflect the change in us since early ages. Those music instrument were used by my grandparents when i was young. I don’t even know if i can operate them now.

I think there are TV shows with a similar theme but nothing quite like this. I’m not much for keeping all stuff but I can definitely see how walking through Joe Ley would be nostalgic. What was your favourite thing you saw?

I loved all of the old stuff from Fontaine Ferry Park.

A lot of history there.

The incredible history is what makes this huge, cluttered space so much more interesting and much more than a place to buy some stuff.

Obviously, everyone will be quick to point the finger
at the restaurant, but it is fairly clear, even at this early stage that it was an accident.
Among this is the metal roof which in the earlier years is one of the high priced roofing products used in America
and in Europe. You may want to get some roof gutter accessories that help your maintain the copper,
aluminum, or steel gutters you’ve had installed.
