Rease raves about the City Museum.
After my visit, I am ready to claim it to be the coolest thing in St. Louis and the coolest playground I have ever seen.
The City museum is so unique and can by enjoyed by kids and adults.
But if you don’t like kids running around, I recommend going on Friday or Saturday night.
It’s open until midnight!! And there’s a bar!
We went on a Sunday afternoon because we were too busy eating and drinking on Friday and Saturday night. So that meant there were mostly kids playing, and the only adults there were mostly parents watching their kids… except us of course
But I still loved it.
The architecture and re-use of materials is impressive.
We definitely worked up a sweat and got our exercise for the day.
I felt that simple childhood joy when having fun is your only responsibility.
There are no maps. You have to discover on your own.
You don’t know where a tunnel may lead.
Even if you don’t want to “play,” you can appreciate the great view.
Visit the City Museum!
The place is massive, so you can spend several hours at the City Museum. The price of admission is a bit high, so you should go for at least two hours to get your money’s worth. But it is absolutely worth it.
If you want to avoid the kids and enjoy a few drinks with friends, go Friday or Saturday night.
Wear comfortable clothes, including closed-toe shoes. You will sweat. You may get a little dirty. It’s not a fashion show, so just have fun.
Don’t bring a good camera unless you want to stand on the sidelines and just take photos. The odds of breaking your camera are pretty high. I would love to go back again with my D-SLR and just do photography. If you bring a point-and-shoot, wear a fanny-pack (only time I will suggest this) or something similar.
Have you ever come across a unique “playground” in your travels?

BEST PLACE EVER. If anyone ever visits St. Louis for anything (other than to hang out with me) it should be to see this. I’m so glad we made it!

That certainly looks like a fun place. Being able to go with no kids also sounds very appealing.
I hope you get back with your SLR so we get to see more of it.

This was the first place I ever wrote about on my blog. It’s a lot of fun. I didn’t even see some of those slides. It was winter so we didn’t get to go on the roof.

This looks like such fun! I would love to act like a kid again and yeah, would probably go to the late nights so that I don’t have little kids under my feet. Your photos are amazing! I was surprised when you said these aren’t DSLR because that is what caught my eye about the post.

Hi there! I just wanted to ask if you ever have any trouble with hackers?
My last blog (wordpress) was hacked and I ended up losing several
weeks of hard work due to no data backup. Do you have
any methods to prevent hackers?

The Guy says
Hey Phyllis,
2 tips:-
1. If you use wordpress look for a plugin called “limit login attempts”. You can set this to shut out an IP address after it fails to hack your account after a set number of attempts. For mine it locks out the IP for I think 12-36 hours after 2 failed log in attempts.
2. Change your log in name. Don’t use “admin”, all hackers take a chance that you haven’t changed your log in name.
Sorry travel chica, just had to help out. Still love your adult playground though
